the story of the vegan subscription box that gives something back

Founded in 2021, Happily Ever After is the first fully vegan book subscription box in the UK. With a love of animals, the planet, and reading in mind, our mission is to create a happily ever after for:
the planet -
- by saving as many books as we possibly can from landfill
Each year millions and millions of books are published and sent out to book stores in the hopes of finding their forever homes. Unfortunately, some books (through no fault of their own!) don’t make the cut and are left waiting on the shelves. There are a number of reasons for this, such as overly optimistic publishing, not making the top chart lists etc. These books are then sent back to publishers where they can either be pulped (very scary thought for book lovers!), sent to landfill (ever scarier thought for planet lovers!) or rescued by Happily Ever After Book Box (and other lovely organisations!)
This means you can enjoy unread books without feeling guilty about the detrimental environmental impact of buying brand new books.
the animals -
- by helping to support the rescue of animals by donating money to local charities with each purchase
Every purchase made on our website, and each subscription book box we send out donates money to local animal rescue organisations. We have raised hundreds of pounds for the following animal rescue organisations so far:
- The Wonkey Donkey Sanctuary
- The Sheffield Cat Shelter
- The Farm Animal Sanctuary
- The Special Branch
- Millington’s Magical Barn
- Pigs in the Wood
And have many more deserving organisations lined up in the near future. Let us know if you have a worthy organisation that we can support!

Whether you are vegan yourself, buying a gift for a vegan, or just someone that is open to exploring some great tasting treats, our book and treat boxes are for everyone. Vegan chocolate used to have a bit of a reputation, many a time have we heard “I would go vegan but I can’t give up chocolate!”
Well, we are here to let you know that times have certainly changed recently, and there are so many AMAZING tasty vegan chocolates out there now.
Our Book and Pamper box contains a different surprise vegan chocolate each month, so is a great way to explore different brands and suss which ones are your favourite. We’ll have you ditching that dairy in no time 😉
